This 1991 Agua Fria graduate understands the importance and value of making a house a home. She’s spent the last 20 years raising four children in Texas and California where she began in Property Management and Beach Vacation Rentals. In this real estate market where seemingly almost everyone is being displaced, home owners have really lost touch with who their neighbors are. Current residents and new home owners in Goodyear, AZ are finding they have to start over and build new relationships with their neighbors. The thought of speaking to someone they do not know is frightening for some. However for the safety of our communities it is very important that we take the time out to know who are neighbors are.
Everyone is busy and has other things they could be doing. With a little effort though it’s quite easy to build some new friendships and meet your neighbor’s.
Doing some landscaping on your front yard or just sitting on your front porch reading the paper is a great way to start some conversations with your neighbors passing by.
If you’re feeling really motivated you can go for a walk and take the time to talk to the other neighbors as your passing by.
Neighborhood meetings are a great way to not only meet people but also to get engaged with your community. Most of the local Home Owners Associations have meetings every 3 months.
Yard sales are another great way to lure out your neighbors and have some fun. You could contact them ahead of time and see if they may be interested in participating.

Relocating to the West Valley

It has been a curious experience to feel like both a local and a newbie since relocating back to Litchfield Park / Goodyear after over 20 years. The development of the West Valley has been amazing with so many new housing developments, recreation centers, ball parks, restaurants and retail stores.  Adding even more to the quality of life is that both the Phoenix metropolitan and rural areas are easily accessible from here. That balance is important to my family as I am sure it is for many people relocating to Arizona.

So what have we discovered so far?  Park West in Peoria is a perfect adult date night venue http://www.shopparkwest.com/dining-entertainment .  Our favorite movie night is complemented by a delicious meal at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, stroll through the shops and great conversation in the sophisticated outdoor seating areas.   If we need a little faster date tempo, we can always pop over to West Gate City Center as wellhttp://www.westgatecitycenter.com.

As for family adventures, recreation areas such as White Tank Mountain Regional Park offers approximately 25 miles of trails, ranging in length from 0.9 mile to 7.9 miles from easy to difficult.  While the Day hikes can provide some breathtaking views of the mountains and panoramas of the Valley below, our family favorite is the moonlight hike.  It’s an exciting, family friendly opportunity to experience the Arizona desert during the cooler evening hours.
